How do I clean and maintain the cup and disc?
How do I clean and maintain the cup and disc?
How do I clean my menstrual cup/disc?
Boil it for 3–5 minutes before first use and after each period. During your period, empty and rinse with clean water — soap isn't necessary, but if you prefer it, use a pH-balanced, fragrance-free wash. Store in its cotton bag between cycles.
How do I clean my cup when I'm out and about?
The cup and disc only needs emptying 2–3 times a day, so most people manage at home. If you need to empty it on the go, rinse with bottled water or wipe clean with toilet paper until you can rinse properly.
My cup or disc has developed an odour or discoloration — is that normal?
Yes, both are common and easy to fix. Odour is usually caused by wearing the cup longer than 12 hours. Discoloration is residue buildup. An overnight soak in a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and water usually solves both. Always reboil before using again.

How long does the cup or disc last?
How long does the cup or disc last?
Both have been tested to last up to 10 years. However, this does not guarantee your cup or disc will last 10 years, as normal wear and tear must be accounted for. At the same time, we have heard success stories of usage surpassing the 10 years!
On average, customers tend to replace the cup every 2 to 3 years. Reasons include natural discoloration or odor over time (check our "How do I clean and maintain the cup?" FAQ page to minimize this), or pulling improperly on the stem, leading to tears. Even if a cup is replaced every 2 to 3 years, significantly less expense will be spent, and environmental waste will be reduced compared with disposable products.
