Getting Started with the Menstrual Disc

Everything you need to know about how our menstrual disc works, how to insert and remove it, unique benefits and what makes it different from our best-selling cup!

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a menstrual disc different from a cup?

• Shape & Position: A menstrual disc is flat and sits higher up, tucked behind the pubic bone. A cup is bell-shaped and sits lower in the vaginal canal, forming a suction seal.

• Removal: To remove a disc, you hook a finger under the front rim and pull it out. A cup, on the other hand, requires pinching the base to release the suction before removing it.

Perfect, arrived so quickly

Perfect, arrived so quickly. Been using the cup for over 10
years and decided to give the dick a go.
Have recommended the cup to so many friends of mine also have made a gift to some. Very very satisfied. Best thing ever? Especially for a someone who has kitesurfing and snowboarding as a profession. My bestie in challenging conditions. I hope the disk is even better as may have told me! Thank you

Could have been a game changer, but it’s not

I’ve used the menstrual cup from this brand for many years, but unfortunately for the suction of the cup and pressurised workplace, it wasn’t comfortable for me to continue using it.

So I tried the disc, but is seems I can’t use this one either because it doesn’t fit me well. I have continuous leaking, evens though the disc is positioned well tucked behind my pubic bone, I think its circumference is just a little too big for me, it keeps sliding and therefore leaking.

Unfortunately not for me.
But please let me know if you’re going to produce a smaller size.

Hi Chiara

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re really sorry to hear that the disc didn’t work out for you.

What you describe makes a lot of sense. The disc’s fit can be very individual, and it sounds like the current size just isn’t quite right for you.

The good news is that we’re working on a smaller version of the disc, which we expect to launch in 2026. We hope it will offer a better fit for those who’ve had similar issues with our current disc <3

For stor, passer alm.

Do not recommend

Easy to insert and captured the blood but was nearly impossible to retrieve following instructions.

Very confortable but hard to wear

Very confortable but hard to wear, even with 15 years practice with meustral cup. Last time I was always dirty.

It took a bit of practice but now it's the one thing getting me through my periods

It took awhile to learn how to place it right, but as soon as I got the hang of it, it really changed how I feel during periods 😁 I don't go around all the time worrying about bleeding through to my clothes or avoid being joining in activities from fear of bleeding too much ⭐ with the menstrual cup I know how long I can wait until i need to empty it, unlike tampons which sometimes doesn't last as long as other times 😬 I also save quite a lot of money on tampons and pads each month now! Would definitely recommend this to others, just be aware that it takes a bit of getting used to, and it might also take a bit of practice before getting it right 😁

Autodump: I need sooo much toilet paper and it can spill out randomly when I sit down

I've been using the menstrual cup from AllMatters for years and because it's tiny holes started tearing a bit, I decided to get a new one. Sometimes I felt that the cup pressed on my bladder and I had to go pee even more often that regularly. Also, sometimes per year, my periods are very heavy so when I read about the disc and it's bigger volume support I wanted to give it a try.

For the first three periods I only wore it at home, had no leakage and I was happy about it. Then I went to a yoga class, bent over to take my shoes off - and the whole cup spilled out!! Terrible. Now I can no longer trust it...

Also: the autodump sounded handy because I would not need to check if my cup is full. However, you need A LOT of toliet paper to wipe the blood off. And the blood that gets dumped sits at the bottom of the toilet and you must flush the toilet twice.
The toilet paper is especially problematic if you're an outside girly and need to go pee outside during a run or a hike or when at the climbing crag...

Low cervix person here

Low cervix person here to write a thank you for the team to understand and refund my disc. I'm a long time cup user and allmatters cup size mini is small enough not to cause fit issues. The disc was too large. I was confused since the description said it would fit low cervix also.

Here is my idea on how to find out your size for the disc. I hope allmatters can rewrite the disc description fit guide also. Measure how deep you are on your period since the cervix atleast for me is at its lowest at that time. Measure the depth with your finger and compare to the disc diameter (70mm). Hope this helps some of you.

Amazing product I absolutely love it. No leak and large capacity of holding liquid. It takes a couple of tries to adjust the cup but super easy to use

Soy de México usando all matters

I believe it takes time to used how correctly

I believe it takes time to learn how to insert and remove the disc correctly. To me, it seems bulkier and more difficult to use compared to a menstrual cup, which I have been using for about eight years.
Unfortunately, the disc leaked during my period.

Ottima esperienza

Absolutely worth jt

I was surprised at how big it was and was dubious as to how it would work… but actually it has been incredible. So easy to get in and out, which after reading the instructions I was sceptical of the the logistics of that. It has actually surpassed my expectations and I had a completely leak free holiday using it. I now prefer it to the cup which I have used for years!

Worth to Try

I bought both a menstrual disc and a cup. I can’t comment on the cup yet, but since I’ve used the disc, I can say this: I bought it because I’m going on a beach holiday. The product is nice and comfortable to use. After trying a few positions, I found the one that worked best for me and inserted it that way.

The instructions on the packaging and tutorial videos on YouTube were helpful for learning how to use it. However, for some reason, I keep experiencing a small amount of leakage and discharge. There is continuous slight bleeding that leaks into my underwear. In fact, after about 6 hours, the amount of leakage becomes noticeably more. But I still really like the purpose of the product, and it was a lifesaver for my beach holiday.

Auto-dumps when full

I really wanted to love this disc, but unfortunately it is not the perfect fit for me. After using AllMatters cup for 5+ years, I wanted to try out the disc as well. The thing I absolutely love about the disc is how easy it is to insert as opposed to the cup. Just pinch, slide in and tuck and you are done. No folding and twisting and sometimes reinserting (if needed). I had an issue with my cup that the stem would stay out a bit (depending on the day of the cycle) and was really annoying, but cutting it shorter wasn't an option, because on other days of cycle it would go really high up and without the long stem would be too hard to reach. So a huge plus of the disc is that there is no such issue at all. It stays in so comfortably. At first it looks huge and intimidating, but actually it is really soft and very comfortable to insert. I used it for two cycles and for me it keeps auto-dumping when it is full and unfortunately not only when I'm using the restroom... I understand why a disc would auto-dump on the toilet, but auto-dumping on it's own when full is very unfortunate and makes this disc very unreliable period product for me. I can feel it is inserted correctly. It would leak small amounts if it was about the wrong position, but it only auto-dumps when it is full. When I take it out after such auto-dump accident it is empty. I think the reason for it is wrong size or too soft rim. I am glad I tried this disc out though, because I really prefer the feel and ease of use of a disc to a cup. I noticed I sometimes got a headache from the cup, because of the vacuum pressure. The disc is so much more comfortable in that regard. I will now look out for other disc brands to find the one that will fit me and not auto-dump on its own.

Not a fit for low cervix

I used my AllMatters cup for many years before I switched to discs. I have currently been using the Hello Disc for a few years now. I wanted to try a slightly softer disc, so I grabbed the AllMatters disc. I love the high quality, the design, and the overall feel of their product.

Sadly, I have a very low cervix, and the AllMatters disc didn't fit me. When I inserted it, the rim fit well and I could tuck it behind the pubic bone, but the "round-cup" part got totally crumpled up because it was too deep for my cervix. This caused constant leakage.

I will need to switch back to my Hello Disc or try experimenting with other brands for a softer feel. It’s a shame because I loved the product itself; it just wasn't a good fit for me. If there were a low-cervix option with the same rim size, I would without a doubt continue to use it for many years.

my first time trying a menstrual disc

It's honestly amazing, i don't feel the suction i felt while wearing the cup and it is just so comfortable to wear and really easy to get used to. I don't even know I am on my period thanks to the disc. I would very sincerely recommend.
